Giving Tuesday is coming
If you are part of a charity, you will likely already know all about Giving Tuesday, a day where the world supports important causes, created in response to the shopping mayhem of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
In 2019, Giving Tuesday raised a whopping £14,2 million in donations. The hashtag trended throughout the entire day on Twitter and they hold the world record for the most money raised online for charity in 24 hours.
So, are you ready? Believe it or not, there are just 61 days left until this year's Giving Tuesday which takes place on 01 December 2020. Now is the time to begin planning how you will commemorate Giving Tuesday. Here's my top tips...
Create a campaign plan. I hate to use the phrase 'now more than ever' after we have all been hearing it for the past six months, but it is kind of true. Planning a campaign for Giving Tuesday this year is a vital activity for charities. If you would like a free campaign plan template, just email me!
Make sure people can donate. It may sound silly, but it's worth checking your donation process before a big event like Giving Tuesday. Can people set up regular giving? Are there too many clicks from 'Donate' to payment? Now is the time to get this sorted before the Christmas rush
Download the logos. Giving Tuesday has lots of logos you can download and use on your marketing materials, all of which you can access from their Google Drive
Keep checking the website for resources. Every year Giving Tuesday create a range of toolkits and supply social media assets for charities to use. Visit their website and keep checking in for new resources
Get inspired. Not sure where to start? There are some amazing stories on the Giving Tuesday website about successful charity campaigns - have a look for some inspiration
See what the big boys are doing. Last year, PayPal match-funded donations made on Giving Tuesday. Do you have a corporate partner that could help you maximise your campaign? Now is the time to start speaking to them!
