Top tips for refreshing your website
According to research, a good website will last you about two and a half years. Not long is it?
Do not fear! In my experience, a well designed website will last you up to five years if you maintain it regularly and show it lots of love.
So, how do you do that? Here's my top tips for giving your website a refresh.
Update your imagery
A picture is worth a thousand words. Ask yourself...
Is your imagery diverse and representative of your values?
Do you only use Stock photos?
Can you capture some real stakeholders and add their images to your site?
Tell your story
Storytelling is one of my favourite things, and it's highly likely you can use your website to tell your story. Ask yourself...
Does your 'About' page tell a story?
Have you introduced your team?
Have you included testimonials and case studies?
Add some personality
The people in your organisation make it all happen. Introduce them! Ask yourself...
Is your 'Team' page vibrant?
Do you have links to allow people to connect with team members?
If you have a news or blog section, do you introduce authors?
Embed calls to action
What do you want your website visitors to actually do? It's important to tell them, in Plain English, and regularly. Ask yourself...
Has every single web page got a call to action at the bottom?
Can people subscribe to your newsletter on every page?
Can people connect with your on social media via every page?
Ready for a whole new website?
Sometimes a refresh just doesn't cut it. If your website is more than four or five years old, I'd recommend a new build. If you need any support, just get in touch.
